Black Friday wasn't really anything special. I was in Pennsylvania with family so i didnt get to do any shopping. I figured there would be too many people and the stores would be packed. People tend to get over excited over black Friday but most of them don't even need to buy anything they just do it for the idea of it, just to spend "less" money. I think that people just do things based on the whole idea of things and not really the concept. For example, Christmas. People tend to focus Christmas on presents and decorations. Spending all your money on gifts and lighting Christmas parties etc. But Christmas isn't about Santa...or how many presents you get, its about Jesus being born an the celebration of that. I mean for those who don't believe in God this dosen't have to apply to but thats basically the whole concept of it. Little things count but its the big picture thats most important. People abide by it because its a ritual, because everyone follows each other.

My thanksgiving was better than i had expected. This year it was held in my country house in Pennsylvania which was a good change from being in the city. My family and i had left wednesday night to try to avoid early morning traffic and get a head start on the cooking in the morning. Waking up at 8 am on a non school day wasnt really the funnest thing, but it was for a good cause. My sister and i helped my mother in cook since we were waiting 25 people. We had not one but two turkeys in the oven so that it would be enough for everyone. Having the family stay at the house with us for 3 days was probably the most meaningful thing of thanksgiving. Everything felt in place. The topic of genocide didnt really come up at all, we just happend to think of happy things and talking about old memories. I think the most significant part of thanksgiving is being together with your loved ones. In many people's lives family is very important so i think not even the food but the whole concept of thanksgiving is signifcant to people that makes them want to come together and celebrate the meaningful things in theyre lives.
